New England Equine Medical & Surgical Center is a private referral hospital located on the beautiful seacoast of New England in Dover, NH. We provide 24/7 emergency coverage, ambulatory services and specialty services within our 34,000 square foot hospital. Our specialty services include surgery, lameness / sports medicine, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, nuclear scintigraphy) and ophthalmology.
We are seeking a veterinary technician to add to our growing, dedicated team. Credentialed technicians or those with 1-2 years experience in the field are preferred. Ideal candidates will be motivated, passionate about equine veterinary medicine and have strong horse experience. Must have the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently. This position is primarily overnight and weekend hours. Compensation includes after-hours shift differential. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Responsibilities to include:
- Physical exams, monitoring and medication administration of hospitalized patients (including ICU, isolation, surgical patients and neonatal care)
- Triage and receiving of incoming emergency cases
- Obtaining blood samples, IV catheter placement
- Laboratory skills
- IV fluid administration & monitoring
- Imaging – assist with radiographs, ultrasound exams, CT, MRI and scintigraphy
- Assistance in surgery & anesthesia
- Training and mentorship of veterinary externs & interns
